8 Simple Self-Care Cannabis Apps You Need to Try Now
Let’s face it, prioritizing self-care is hard. From navigating a pandemic to being stuck in the house all day, we need self-care and cannabis now more than ever.
I almost feel like it’s been harder to prioritize self-care between Zoom fatigue and being restricted to staying inside. According to Psychology Today, Zoom went from a total of 10 million daily meeting participants in December 2019 to 300 million in April 2020. That’s a lot of Zoom!
With a lot of us working from home and trying to balance work like being integrated into home life, finding time in your day to focus on your needs is especially hard right now but luckily we live in an age where there’s an app that makes damn near everything easier.
Here are some of my favorite apps that I personally use to manage my self-care routine.

Meditation Apps
Calm App
Calm is my go-to app for guided meditations! One thing I love is that the app has different meditation series across a variety of themes like Self-Care, Personal Growth, Anxiety, and Stress.
Pro tip: Use the daily reminder so that you don’t forget to meditate in the morning 😉
There are also a ton of Sleep Stories, including a new series from smooth-talking Idris Elba, that I use to help distract my mind when I’m having trouble nodding off. Calm offers a free version so that you can get a taste of what they have to offer but the premium version is so worth it!

Shine App
Voted Apple’s best self-care app of 2020! Founded by WOC!
It is so refreshing to see and hear black women practicing self-care. It fills me with joy to see us feeling free from dark, heavy energy by prioritizing our own well-being. (That’s why I started this blog! Be sure to join our weekly newsletter to get inspiration and tips on how to prioritize your self-care!)
This app offers all that you would appreciate in a self-care app including mediation (the quick hitters are awesome!), stress release challenges, guided journal prompts, and sleep aides (stories, meditations, and sounds).
Highly recommend that you try the ‘Morning Mindset’ quick hitter in your morning routine after you wake and bake!
Pro Tip: Smoke an upper Sativa if you want to feel like you’re floating. Try an indica if you want to feel more grounded 🧘🏽♀️

Habit Tracking Apps
I love habit trackers. I use the habit tracker in my journal aka the Best Journal Ever.
OnTracka App
Have you ever wanted to digitally track your cannabis use along with any other medicines you take? Then you should download the OnTracka App because it allows you to do just that!
With OnTracka, you can track what cannabinoids you’re using, the habits you’re trying to build, and even your mental health with questions about how you’re feeling that day. It is also very customizable to your needs!
I chatted with the founder of Ontracka, Chad Walkaden, who has an incredible story of surviving cancer 3 times and turning to cannabis for help during that process. He created this app to help others and I find that inspiring.

Jointly
Tracking your sessions has gotten super easy thanks to Jointly. This app allows you to provide a report on what you took and how you felt afterward in a simple way.
The feature I found most helpful was the Product Finder. The app asks you what your goal is (relax, relieve stress, reduce anxiety, focus & create, etc.), the type of product you want (edible, smoke, tincture, etc.), and what cannabinoids (CBD, THC, THCA, etc.) and then gives you product recommendations. I love trying new strains so this was super fun for me.

Yoga At Home
Amazon Video
Quarantine has made going to the gym or yoga studio damn near impossible so I’ve moved my workouts into my living room with the help of my Amazon Fire Stick.
There are a variety of FREE videos included with Amazon Video (free if you have Prime) so you’re bound to find something you like. I recently completed the 30 Day Yoga for Weight Loss with Julia Marie and it is good for beginners and advanced yogis.
YouTube
You can access YouTube from pretty much anywhere and since there are a TON of free yoga videos, it’s a great resource.
Selecting the Best Weed
Leafly
This is my go-to app for all things weed. In Leafly, you can find everything from cannabis education, strain reviews, and even which dispensaries in your area carry what strains.
Leafly is a must download for anyone living in a recreational or medically legal state.
Weedmaps
Weedmaps is great for finding weed when you’re in a new city or need the delivery. You’ll also find information on deals in the area so be sure to check it!
Conclusion
You can’t pour from an empty cup. While prioritizing self-care during quarantine is hard, maybe even harder than usual, it is necessary to create a life that makes you happy.
Something being hard isn’t an excuse not to do it.
Often times, it’s the hard things that give us the opportunity to grow. And while we can’t make everything easier, prioritizing our self-care with the help of technology makes things a hell of a lot easier.
